CABINETS and bookshelves
BEFORE -- This was an empty alcove in the family room of a new house, flanking on the left the fireplace in the center of the end wall. The builder had left it empty and so it was not a particularly useful space. The family wanted a storage cabinet, for games, videos, CDs, etc., and bookshelves to match the other installations in the house. In addition, the left front-channel speaker for the home theater installation (to the right of the fireplace) was to go in this space.

AFTER -- Identical moldings were used on the doors as were used on other cabinets in the house. Hidden hinges give a clean look. A curved top was fabricated to fit the arch of the alcove. Shelves are adjustable; the top one holds the left speaker for the home theater installation. The cabinet contains shelves inside to hold CDs, videos, and other stuff. Everything was painted to match the existing trim.
This house had a similar situation -- a new addition needed a finishing touch in alcoves either side of the fireplace, one side for a TV and the other for books and other items.
The downstairs half-bath had no storage space for towels and amenities, though the other bathrooms had considerable space in their vanities and cabinets. A cabinet/shelf to fit over the toilet was installed, using the same materials and designs as the cabinets in the other bathrooms (and as above). Note too the use again of hidden hinges for a clean look.
Here are two CD/DVD cabinets, made from birch, built to hold hundreds of CDs and DVDs in the pull-out drawers, each gliding out on heavy-duty full-extension ball-bearing slides.
Small Office
These pictures show a built-in unit at the end of a small family room. It includes drawers for files and other items, and a small desk space, with shelves above. The floor and ceiling were not level, so there was a bit of interesting customization to fit the units in the space.
Bathroom Update
The bathroom in this older house was showing its age, and the homeowner wanted a new sink cabinet and top. CONSTRUCTIVITY built this new base to fit into an odd space at the end of the bathroom, and put a black cultured granite top on it. The cabinet has 3 drawers and 3 doors, and fits in well with the old pink and black color scheme!
